In 2007, the Green Party has two Members of the European Parliament, and over 100 District/Unitary and County Councillors. Many of our representatives have built up large majorities, and we share control of several councils. In General elections, both locally and nationally our vote has steadily increased from 1997 through 2001 and 2005. In the 2007 local elections, Green candidates had the highest aggregate share of the vote in our target parliamentary constituencies in Brighton and Norwich.
By joining the Greens, you become a member of the only Party that defends the public and our environment against the greed and corruption of international corporations like those trying to poison our food with GMOs. By joining the Green Party, you can help win the election of more Green councillors, MPs and MEPs for the future. Fill in the form and send it back today. If we have a future, that future is Green.
There are two categories of membership, national and local.
National membership is a way of supporting the Green Party financially. You will receive the Party's quarterly magazine Green World, and you will have full democratic rights within the Party at all levels: for instance, to attend and vote at conference, to stand for office within the party, to vote for the party executive. If you live in the Salisbury area, national membership includes local membership of Salisbury Green Party.
Local membership is a cheaper way of joining Salisbury Green Party; LETS members can pay in ebbles, though we do appreciate the pounds. You will have full rights within the local party, but unfortunately you will not enjoy certain national rights like voting at conference, and you will have to buy Green World separately if you want it.
